Jesus just wants us to trust Him. There are many examples throughout God’s Word where Jesus expresses this like when Jesus and His disciples crossed the lake in Luke 8:22. Although Jesus’ disciples knew who He was and how Jesus would heal the sick, they still became afraid during the storm despite having witnessed Jesus perform many miracles, signs and wonders. Jesus responds with a question, a question that transcends time and space; “have you no faith?” Said Jesus.

Jesus’ question; “have you no faith?” is as relevant today as it was when He spoke it. God loves to weave analogies into the fabric of His creation. Jesus describes faith to the mustard seed, although small, it produces one of the largest trees on earth. Just as we start out smaller than a mustard seed in our mother’s womb from the moment of conception to adulthood, on average, we grow to 20 trillion times the size we started. (ChatGPT, 2023). God loves to multiply His goodness and we are the perfect example of this.

31. He told them another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his field. 32. Though it is the smallest of all seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds come and perch in its branches.”

Matthew 13:31-32 NIV

20. He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”

Matthew 17:20 NIV

Trusting God is a concept that is easier said than done so I wouldn’t venture to say that it is easy to trust God. What I can say is that when we do trust Him, it always works out for the best no matter how bad the circumstances are. Often times when we don’t trust God and we try to fix things in our own power or understanding we often make things worse. God makes beauty from ashes, He makes the first last and the last first.

8. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.

2 CORINTHIANS 9:8 (NIV)

For we are not saved by works, for we all have fallen short of the glory of God. Instead we are saved by our faith in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. Jesus paid the ultimate price for everyone, not just some, but for all. Therefore, we simply must have faith and build our relationship with Jesus by seeking His face often and always seeking His council in everything, even the most trivial things. By doing this, we are putting our faith in God always.

5. he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit

Titus 3:5 (NIV)

23. for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God

Romans 3:23 (NIV)
