As we grow older in life, the more scars we develop from all of the trials and tribulations we face. For most, recollecting these horrid events are painful and so many of us simply try to forget our difficult past. I am one of those people and there have been some difficult things in my past that I have spent the better part of 25 years trying to forget. In my prayer time with God I have frequently asked Him to remove the memories from me and only recently He gave me a revelation about this.

God said, “do you remember the body builder?” and I was like a deer in headlights. I told God, no, I am unsure what you mean. God replied “how do muscles grow?”. I replied, well they tear when you put them under stress and after they heal they grow and become stronger. Then, God replied, “Exactly!”. God didn’t elaborate any further on this and I was left to ponder this for quite a while.

After pondering this for some time, I had an “Ah Ha!” moment. I realized that God was trying to tell me that the trials and tribulations that He allows us to go through in life create tears in our spiritual being, and the healing process hurts, just as the healing process of our muscles hurt, but when they heal, they become stronger and have increased endurance.

All of God’s creation is profoundly made. He designed our very bodies and the way they operate to serve as a metaphor about how he operates. He won’t reveal the whole mystery until the day Jesus returns, however, God still loves to reveal mysteries to us if we are willing to listen, to have a conversation with Him. God absolutely loves our company and He will never forsake us.

So take a moment to remember where you came from, what events shaped you, and how God got you through each and every one of them. Jesus loves you, He cares for you, and He wants you to be the best you. So take heart those who are heavy laden, for His yoke is easy and His burden light.

28. Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
